How do you play the World identify quiz?
A country lights up. Pick its name from four choices before the streak breaks. Drag to pan the map, scroll or pinch to zoom, and use the plus and minus buttons if you prefer. Very small countries such as Monaco, Singapore and Malta get an enlarged tap target, so they are as playable on a phone as Brazil is.
How many countries are there in the world?
There are 196 sovereign countries in the world as of 2026. This quiz asks only about sovereign states. Territories and dependencies such as Greenland, Puerto Rico and New Caledonia are drawn on the map but never asked about, because they are not countries.
